Delmont-Ross Literary Prize Awarded
(30. Mar 2002)
The Delmont-Ross Literary Prize was recently awarded to author, G. Mitchell Allen of Aventura, Florida for his fantasy trilogy, "The Fifth Ring."
The Delmont-Ross Contest is sponsored by Merrill-Lynch and Borders and is now in its third year. Nationally known author Ben Bova served as the chief judge of this year's contest.
Of the 497 entries, Allen's overall score was the highest ever received since the contest began. According to Mr. Allen, it resulted in a publishing contract with HarperCollins, who is expected to release the book first book of the trilogy in January, 2003. He is also represented by the Virginia Kidd Literary Agency.
What makes the story all the more amazing is this is Mr. Allen's first effort as a writer. He lives in Aventura, Florida and holds dual degrees in law and neuropsychology. The exciting action sequences found throughout the book became all the more understandable after we learned Mr. Allen was also a longtime member of the United States National Men's Fencing Team and a many times the winner of individual tournaments himself.
